Welcome! Thank you for considering membership in Temple Beth Shalom. Any member of our congregation or Temple board will be happy to answer any questions you have in person. However, there are always a few Frequently Asked Questions, and we'd like to offer you some answers and resources for those now.
Membership Application
and updated Dues Information
At any time, please contact Bob and Mimi Miller, Membership Committee co-chairs, phone 352-873-6262, with any questions.
Dues are annual, and may be structured as you need, in consultation with our Financial Director. There is a Building Fund assessed payable over the first five years of membership. Dues may be paid in annual, quarterly, or monthly installments. You will receive a statement indicating your membership dues activity for tax purposes.
All are welcome at our weekly Friday night Shabbat, and monthly Saturday torah services.
Due to space constraints, the High Holiday services are by reservation, and the method of reservation is your status as a dues-paying member. Non-members made purchase tickets for $100. For exact details, please contact the Temple office.
Religious education of our youth is a priority with Temple Beth Shalom. Parents must be Temple members to register their children for the weekly religious classes, and there is a registration fee. Education and tutoring is available for children from pre-K through Bar and Bat Mitzvah (age13) and Confirmation (age 15/16).
We have several committees devoted to charitable acts, and have a specific Social Action Committee. The focus changes as the congregation expresses a desire to support or address a particular crisis or cause.
Please feel free to address any questions to a Temple member or Temple Board member at any time. We will all be happy to help you feel right at home.
